Carleen M. Paul, M.S., ET/P
Educational Therapist
Carleen is the owner of Skills for Success Reading Center™ and the
creator of the unique Skill Station Hour™. She studied at
California
State University, Fullerton earning
her undergraduate degree in Child
Development and Master’s
degree in Education with an emphasis in Special
Education. She holds
California Multiple Subject and Learning Handicapped teaching
credentials, as well as specialist certificates in Resource
and Language Development.
Carleen is an active member of The
Association for Educational Therapists, The
International Dyslexia Association, Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators, and Children and Adults with AD/HD (CHADD). Her teaching experience includes over 20 years with regular and
special education students
within the public school and private practice settings, as
well as graduate-level university teaching. Carleen has received
specialized
training in Lindamood-Bell programs, LANGUAGE!, Project
Read and Orton-Gillingham methods. Utilizing a Multisensory Structured Language Approach recommended by the International Dyslexia Association, Carleen and her staff believe that all children can have success in learning to read and write if given the appropriate academic instruction, creative motivation and family support.
Carleen is married, has two daughters and one large Golden Retriever named Hunter. The family of five can be seen at dog-friendly places in Northern and Southern California on warm sunny days. For Hunter, water is often a requirement for fun, so many of the family’s outings involve water-related activities like boating, fishing and swimming.

Ashley Thomsen, B.S.
Lead Reading Teacher
Ashley received her Bachelor of Arts in Communications and completed her Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from California State University San Bernardino. She is currently working on her Education Specialist and Master’s degree in Special Education at California State University San Bernardino. Her teaching experience includes several years of instructing students with special needs at the elementary and middle school levels. Ashley has received training in LANGUAGE! and Orton Gillingham reading methods and is a vital part in the lesson planning and instruction of our students.
When Ashley is not teaching, she enjoys reading, volunteering at church, and spending time with friends and family.
Jennifer Kleinbergs, B.S.
Reading Teacher
Jennifer received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Pre-Primary from Winona State University in Winona, Minnesota.
In 2005, Jennifer became the teacher of a second grade classroom at Derfelt Elementary, where she learned much about leadership, time management and communication skills. She also obtained valuable experience working with children with disabilities at Home and Community Options Inc., also in Winona. Jennifer has participated in Orton-Gillingham training to enhance her reading instruction for our students.
Jennifer is married and has two daughters, ages 2 and 3. She enjoys spending time with her family, connecting with friends, and participating in outside recreational activities.
Jeanette Griffith, M.S.
Reading Teacher
Jeanette received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Christian Education from Biola University in California and her Master’s of Science in Reading from California State University, Fullerton. Jeanette currently holds a Multiple Subject and Reading/Language Arts Specialist Credentials. She has been teaching elementary students to read since 2003 and continues love teaching the magic of reading.
When Jeanette is not teaching, she enjoys gardening, traveling, reading and the challenges of crossword puzzles.
