"My fifth-grade son, Justin, was reading and testing at the 2nd grade level. Within two weeks, after using the Skills for Success Reading everyday, he is now reading at grade level. His school teacher is just amazed at the improvement he has made. Thank you Carleen!"

We are very excited to offer our Skills for Success Reading - A Parent’s Step-by-Step Instruction Guide to Help Struggling Readers for families with struggling readers.
Skills for Success Reading was developed while Carleen was teaching a 4th grade special education class in California. Several students in her class knew only a handful of letter sounds, could not sound-out any words and read only a few words from memory. These unfortunate students came to her after years of failing in traditional reading methods, and now it was her responsibility to teach them to read, and read quickly!
Carleen knew as a teacher, she could not wait until Reading Lesson #27 to teach "ar" or Reading Lesson #45 to teach "ow." Her students needed to be taught to read as soon as possible in order to become proficient readers and productive adults.
She began to group similar letter combinations (graphemes) together (wh, ch, sh, wh, and tch) into one lesson with a story, hand movements, and color-coded letter combinations to assist students’ memory of the letter patterns in words. Her first lesson was a big success and she quickly began to see immediate improvements in her students’ reading abilities! Carleen was ecstatic and so were her students… Skills for Success Reading was born!
When Carleen opened the reading center, she continued using Skills for Success Reading to help her students learn to sound out and spell words. Now, you as a parent, can assist your struggling reader at home! Each skill is organized into one of 23 parent-friendly lessons along with teaching materials that include color-coding letter combinations, clever stories, reference charts and sorting activities to enhance memory and lesson engagement. Designed for students with and without special needs as a supplemental instructional tool for any existing reading program, Skills for Success Reading, becomes the missing link needed for many students to unlock their full reading and writing potential.
